Atlanta Successful in Spite of Ice
Thousands of businesses depend on the success of the Atlanta Gift & Home Furnishings Market every year. When the unprecedented Atlanta winter storm hit just before market, vendors, retailers and local Atlanta businesses feared the worst. Flights were canceled, roads were impassable, and the market center was almost empty.
We kicked off market on January 12 with a barebones staff. Most of our sales team was still trying to work out flight schedules. Members of our IT department, who were able to make it in before the storm hit, pitched in to assist customers. Traffic was slow, but steady. We watched news and road reports hoping for a break in the weather.

Atlanta Market Recap
Last week marked the end of the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. The Atlanta show attracts gift buyers far and wide but has also become a hub for designers and home accessory buyers. The metropolitan Atlanta area, like much of the sunbelt, has experienced explosive growth in the past decade and announced itself as a major media market. AmericasMart has never been more appealing to buyers with it’s great Southern location and more hotels within walking distance to the market center than anywhere else.
Atlanta had a vibrant focus on wall color, keeping it to a one or two color story and pairing it with accessories with traditional lines in neutral patterns and texture. The color story was strengthened with a layer of accent textiles, like pillows and throws in tonal or complimentary looks. Artwork took a backseat to structured wall décor incorporating mirrors and other reflective surfaces.

IMAX to Host Carolyn Kinder Visit at Atlanta Market
IMAX Worldwide Imports is pleased to announce “Meet the Artist” events featuring designer Carolyn Kinder during the Atlanta Market.
Carolyn will be in the showroom to speak with retailers about her line of exclusive designs for IMAX, as well as to share ideas on the creative process and the home accessory industry. The events will be held at the IMAX showroom, AGM, Bldg. 2, Showroom #1100. Sessions will be held on Friday, July 10 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.; and on Saturday, July 11 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
