Sharing Space and Ideas to Beat the Economy
Lisa Quall and Kelly Gasparich aren’t sure what business will be like when the economy rebounds, but they’re working overtime to make this challenging environment work for them.
A year ago, Lisa opened Elegant Clutter, a small boutique in Mill Creek, Washington, about 30 miles outside Seattle. Kelly joined her quickly and the two created a shop designed for women who enjoy making their homes beautiful.
Lisa and Kelly say much of the store’s success relies on attractive price points that encourage impulse-buying. They are determined to hold to their average price tag of $25 to $100 and rely heavily on IMAX products to do so.

You Must Stay Alert
The rain was threatening and I was in a hurry. Grabbing the pen and ready to sign the receipt, I was stopped when the shop owner asked to see some identification. I dug in my wallet for my drivers license and waited while he examined it.

Unforgettable is definitely the right word for our third trend, evoking the nostalgic feel of the big city of the 1940s and ’50s with clean lines and distinctive profiles. Adding warmth to the mid-century modern look are icons like antique cameras and vintage automobiles and planes. Musical instruments seem to channel the rat pack together in a jazz club with a cool martini or glass of wine.
Retro designs and quality finishes are accented by silver-plated icons and vintage black and white images transferred onto glass plates or canvas artwork. There is a graphic impact in our pillows, added to the glamour of dark wood and mirrors reflected in the furniture.

Our second summer look is Synergy, created to help customers create a “staycation” in their own homes. With its emphasis on natural textures, Synergy is designed to inspire relaxing, but with a sophisticated touch. Warm amber tones are coordinated with fresh greens to bring warmth and comfort to customers’ environments.
New furniture accents combine with textiles in natural materials such as rattan and earthy metals to bring a touch of the tropics to the look. The look is grounded by rattan chairs or a shell mirror and enriched with ruffles, tucks and patterns in our new pillows. The background paint color of Geranium Leaf by Behr helps define the feeling.

TULSA, OK – IMAX Worldwide Imports announced that its Chicago showroom is moving to a new storefront on a new floor, just in time for the upcoming market. The new showroom will be located at Merchandise Mart, 13-401, on the giftware floor.
The move is in conjunction with the company’s efforts to diversify their product line with giftable home décor.
“We are very excited about the showroom and the our new giftable line. Both are sure to be successful,” said Rex Yoakley, Vice President of Enterprise. “Each item was specially designed to be both unique and sellable, both of which our customers have come to expect from our merchandise.”
IMAX Introduces New Textiles Line
IMAX announces the introduction of “IMAX Embellished,” an exclusive line of textiles debuting at Summer 2009 markets. This new and exciting category currently includes decorative accent pillows and table runners in an eloquent combination of beautiful colors, patterns and textures.
The pillows offer versatility in style and a variety of looks to compliment many room settings. Fabrics were selected for our Summer 2009 trend presentation vignettes, but are easily translated into other areas as well. The Embellished line is neutral enough in style for the customer to create their own story with select pieces from each trend to compliment their own displays without presenting the full trend vignette.

Mr. Goude has extensive expertise and knowledge in the product design and development of home décor lighting, accessories and occasional furniture. He held positions with Knob Creek and Dunning Industries before starting his own companies, As You Like It, Inc. (ALYI, Inc.) and RFG – Global Design Group, LLC.

IMAX Worldwide Imports is pleased to announce “Meet the Artist” events featuring designer Carolyn Kinder during the Atlanta Market.
Carolyn will be in the showroom to speak with retailers about her line of exclusive designs for IMAX, as well as to share ideas on the creative process and the home accessory industry. The events will be held at the IMAX showroom, AGM, Bldg. 2, Showroom #1100. Sessions will be held on Friday, July 10 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.; and on Saturday, July 11 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
