Connie Post’s newest colorway debuting at the summer markets-Celebrations-is an apt description of the mood here at IMAX Worldwide Home as we head into the coming season.
We’re excited to announce a licensing agreement with designer Nikki Chu debuting at the Summer 2014 markets. Featuring high-quality accent furniture and home accessories, the new collection will reflect Nikki’s sense of timeless style and her talent for designing environments that are sleek and serene with touches of glamour.
Another upbeat note is the positive reception to our growing furniture line. The new Aviator Chair was a clear hit at the High Point Market, and the leather furniture options—including a full-size sofa and loveseat—present a variety of new merchandising options and opportunities that enable retailers who wouldn’t typically carry furniture to expand into new categories with minimal commitment or risk.
Here at IMAX, that’s a key approach. Says Rex Yoakley, “We know retailers look to us for consistently good service and fresh products, but also for the value of the merchandising solutions we seek to provide. In today’s competitive marketplace, we don’t believe any company can expect to simply provide product at a price. We believe it’s vital to support our customers by bringing great ideas to the table as well, ideas like color-coordinated accessories for example, that not only make it easy for retailers to create exciting displays, but address consumers’ fears about making costly decorating mistakes.”
As we continue our 30th Anniversary celebration this summer, you can count on a lot more exciting and profit-generating programs to come. Nothing But Blue Skies!
After the long winter, we’re quite pleased to see that Summer has finally(!) arrived and business is on the upswing. Consumers are shaking off their cabin fever and we made sure our customers were ready for them with trend-right product introductions at both the winter and spring markets. Among the hits were the new color way additions to Connie’s Essentials line, including Marine Blue, Apple Green, Coral and Mellow Yellow, and lamp designer Becky Fletcher’s new lamps with her signature, embellished shades.
Our new distribution center and warehouse facilities in the Los Angeles area, which opened in January, are now coming fully online as well. We’ve operated out of four buildings in Tulsa for decades, so the IMAX team is energized to finally have our entire distribution facility located under one roof. We want to thank everyone for weathering the transition with patience and good humor. We’re all looking forward to more efficient operations, and we know you are too.
Just as exciting was the June 2nd grand opening of our new 10,000-square-foot showroom that our SO/CAL customers will enjoy access to on a daily basis. Of course, all of our customers are invited to shop the showroom anytime you are in the area, and we think it’s definitely worth seeing. For the first time ever our visual team was presented with a blank slate and the result is a refreshing, and idea-packed shopping experience that underscores the creative strengths that set IMAX apart in the marketplace.
Making a bigger “Splash” with IMAX!
First of all, I would like to personally congratulate the winner of our drawing for the mermaid, “Siréne”, held in Atlanta on the 15th. Tami Durkee of The Pear Tree in Cocoa Village, Florida made a generous donation and was rewarded by getting to take the mermaid home this spring! Thank you to all of our customers and friends who contributed to help the American Red Cross raise funds for the ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
You Can Still Help:
If you did not win the first drawing, don’t worry – you can still help! We will be collecting donations through the end of the Las Vegas market (February 1st) for a chance to win the second original mermaid sculpture, “Korrigan”, by yours truly. I have been working at record pace to complete a second sculpture in time for market, and guess what? She’s finished. This piece is very different from the first, and I must say that I think you will love her. She is seated on a table, but can be removed to sit on a countertop or other surface, so she is more versatile to display. Her shimmery painted scales are decorated with intricate drawings remeniscent of henna tattoos, and she leans back, holding a glass orb in her outstretched hand. Very ethereal, in a watery kind of way!

We are continuing to partner with the Red Cross in their Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. For every $20 donated, you will receive a chance to win this beautiful original life-sized mermaid sculpture, and IMAX will contribute matching donations. Join us in continuing the support needed by our friends and neighbors affected by the storm.

New ColorPOST with Connie Collections to Debut at High Point!
We are updating our popular ColorPOST with Connie™ concept at the October High Point market. This successful program now merges two trend-forward colors into one dynamic presentation for each collection, and the collections have been streamlined into a smaller commitment for the retailer.
The updated program is price sensitive on individual components and all elements of a collection work together to decorate a room perfectly. Essentially, “what you see is what you get” – all minimum quantities are shown on the individual pods. Each pod has been merchandised to hit a strategic price point of around $1000.

IMAX Expands Las Vegas Showroom
We are pleased to announce a major expansion in our showroom presence in Las Vegas for the upcoming Las Vegas Gift & Home Market, July 30 – August 3, 2012. We will be expanding our existing space in Building A, Showroom 429. A ribbon cutting will be held Tuesday, July 31 at 9:15 a.m.
The expanded showroom will provide us with approximately twice as much square footage at the market, allowing room for to feature all of the items from our best-selling lines as well as hundreds of new products.
Vice President of Sales Rex Yoakley said that IMAX had customers in mind when we made the decision to expand. “We have had overwhelming response to our line in Las Vegas and the continued increase in traffic led us to adding the extra space in order to better serve our customers – both new and existing.”
