Andrews Furniture Hosts “Ladies Night Out”
About 60 women recently attended “Ladies Night Out” at Andrews Furniture in Abilene. In-Detail’s Rinda Clinard spoke to the women about 2013 Color Trends, highlighting our IMAX product trends. After a fun filled evening, the ladies were thrilled with the two lamps IMAX donated for door prizes, and our winter promotional bags were a big hit. Thank you to Andrews Furniture for hosting such a great event.
ColorPOST in the Bahamas!
I recently returned from a trip to beautiful Nassau along with IMAX’s Amanda Djukic where we visited Bahamian retailer Furniture Plus. The three store chain is going big with ColorPOST, featuring six complete color stories in each of their stores.
Furniture Plus is an amazing retailer, and the perfect place to see the color stories in action. I was pleased to see that they were executed perfectly by the Furniture Plus team. The individual color stories not only gave a blast of energy and freshness to their retail floors, they also provided an instant store update without renovations. It was simply perfect. The customers were responding not only with curiosity but with their wallets. I love it when a plan comes together they did a fabulous job with the IMAX pods.
The staff is very excited about the new ColorPOST displays, especially Passion which they’ve placed at the front of the store. Furniture Plus focuses on red in their marketing and branding, so Passion is a perfect fit.
After seeing Furniture Plus’s amazing color story implementation, I’m more excited then ever to start seeing how other retailers around the world are using the ColorPOST collections in their stores!
The photo below features the Furniture Plus team along with Amanda and Connie in front the ColorPOST displays at the Nassau location. In order of appearance from left to right: Chantell Robinson, Troy d’Arville (owner), Amanda Djukic, Dawn Forbes, Connie Post, Christopher Cartwright, Krystynia Lee d’Arville, and Wesley Campbell.

Should You Sell Online - An interview with Brent Freeman, owner of accentsforelegance.com
Online commerce is becoming a larger part of our industry, and the economy as a whole, every day. Maybe you’ve put it off for years, but it might finally be the right time for you to make the leap to the World Wide Web. Don’t worry, there’s room for you.
According to our latest IMAX survey, only 13% of accessory retailers currently sell online. That leaves a lot of sales space for a properly built and marketed online store. That’s potential that Brent Freeman, who owns and operates online-only accessory retail store, Accents for Elegance can attest to.
“If an accessory retailer doesn’t already have an online store, they should,” said Freeman. “It’s where customers go to begin with. They shop online to compare products and prices before actually making the trip to a brick-and-mortar store.”

This store shows product at every opportunity. The main message from retailer Sarah Corrigan and her partner and mother, Mary Kay Carapella, is display, display and display.
Almost every surface in The White Hare is a created display and Sarah says they fine-tune every one, every day. The ideas for the displays come from everywhere, she says, mostly from ideas spotted at the trade shows and brainstorming among the staff.

Successful Retail with a Southwest Flavor
In a small courtyard setting in the Scottsdale, AZ, suburb of Carefree, Denise Turner is building a successful business with Turn West Design.
She started the business three years ago as a 1,000-sq.-ft. design center for her own interior design business after spending 10 years working for Robb & Stuckey, the large furniture store group.
She added custom furniture, mostly case goods, and gave her store unique appeal with paintings from local artists, priced at $3,000 to $9,000. Because the Scottsdale area has heavy tourist traffic, Denise added candles and tabletop and other smaller items for that clientele to take with or ship.
